Manchester City's hopes of retaining their Premier League title suffered a heavy blow with a surprising 0-1 loss to Burnley on Saturday night.
Following a goalless first-half, Midfielder George Boyd scored the only goal of the game in the 61st minute with a low half-volley shot to guide 18th-placed Burnley to victory.
Reflecting on his side's fading title hopes, manager Manuel Pellegrini said that every point they drop would be more difficult, adding that one has mathematical chances, one must try to continue fighting, the BBC reported.
However, Pellegrini said that the most important thing was to trust in what they were doing, try to win the next game and they would see at the end of the season where they finish.
With Saturday's defeat against Burnley, City are second in the points table, five points behind Chelsea, who have two matches in hand.
