A man from the UK, who blasted Elton John's hit 'Candle In The Wind' non-stop for 18 hours has been fined 1000 pounds by city magistrates.

44-year-old Jamie Smith also listened to other tracks by Elton John, which included 'Crocodile Rock' at full volume, as well as other songs by UB40, 1980s' R and B act Milli Vanilli and rapper Eminem.

Details of his behaviour emerged after Bristol City Council took Smith to court for breaching a noise abatement notice despite being given many warnings.

City's magistrates fined Smith 1,000 pounds with 808 pound costs and a 15-pound-victim-surcharge, the Daily Express reported.

One resident at St George House, in Bristol's Redfield district, said that Smith is a nightmare neighbour, and could not be any worse.

The resident said that Smith used to switch on the songs at 11pm and the tracks played till 5am.
