Manchester United's 30 million pounds signing Luke Shaw has been ruled out for a month after he suffered a hamstring injury and it could accelerate a move for another left-back as the club is heavily linked with Sporting Lisbon's Marcos Rojo and Ajax's Daley Blind.

Shaw, who joined from Southampton in July, is expected to miss United's first five Premier League fixtures of the season at least. It has been a pre-season to forget for the left-back after returning from the World Cup with England.

Soon after joining up with his new side Shaw was ordered to train on his own after manager Louis van Gaal criticised his fitness levels. The left-back admitted at the time that the Dutchman was right to question his fitness, The Independent reported.

Shaw had been set to play as the left wingback in the 3-5-2 formation that the Dutch manager used with his Netherlands side during the World Cup.

Shaw said that to play in this formation one has to be really fit, adding that he is fit but he is not at the high level Van Gaal demands. He also said that he has got to get fitter to get up and down.

Rojo has reportedly been the subject of a 15 million-pound bid to take the pressure off Shaw. However it now appears that he would have to start the season as the first-choice left-back if a deal can be completed quickly.
