Manchester United climbed back into the third spot in the Premier League table after Louis van Gaal's side scored three first-half goals to beat bottom side Leicester at Old Trafford.

After Robin van Persie put United ahead in the 27th minute, Colombian star striker Radamel Falcao consolidated the lead with a clinical finish from a very close range into the centre of the goal to make it 2-0.

Subsequently, defender Wes Morgan headed into his own net to give United a strong lead before the first half.

Leicester couldn't replicate their 5-3 victory against United in last September at King Power Stadium as they could only manage to score one goal through Marcin Wasilewski's late header.

In light of his team's performance, Louis van Gaal said that he was very happy because of the positive result, adding that they lost the last home match so they had to show to their fans that they were coming back again, the BBC reported.

With the win, United moves above Southampton in the points table, at least until Southampton host Swansea on Sunday.
