Manchester United has opted to stay tight lipped and refused to comment on reports that the Premier League club is set to sign Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.
It represents a shift in stance after United had previously privately indicated that they were not interested in Di Maria, who recently told the La Liga club that he wants to leave after rejecting a new deal.
A switch to Louis van Gaal's side would see Di Maria follow in the footsteps of international teammate Marcos Rojo, who signed for United on Wednesday, The BBC reported.
During the summer United officials distanced themselves from a move for the Argentine, who missed the World Cup final through injury.
Madrid paid 20 million pounds to bring him to the Bernabeu from Benfica in 2010, the report added.
