Manchester United endured an early scare to convincingly sweep aside a determined League Two side Cambridge United and earn a 3-0 victory in their FA Cup fourth-round replay at Old Trafford.
Cambridge appeared to be threatening at the beginning of the game as striker Tom Elliot's right-footed shot hit the post within the first minute.
Midfielder Juan Mata put United ahead in the 25th minute as he netted home a close-range finish before Marcos Rojo doubled the lead with a header seven minutes later.
Subsequently, James Wilson struck a sublime low drive from 18 yards to give Louis van Gaal's team an unassailable 3-0 lead in the second-half.
Reflecting on Cambridge's performance, Van Gaal said that Cambridge had played very well, a very well organised team and with the mentality that was superb, adding that the fans were fantastic from Cambridge United, the BBC reported.
United will now face Preston North End in the fifth round of the FA Cup on February 17 at Deepdale.
