Man Utd players blast 'clueless' Van Gaal post Tottenham rout

Manchester United players have reportedly took aim at their manager Louis van Gaal, describing the Dutchman as 'clueless' for his tactical decisions after his side's humiliating defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash.

Earlier, Tottenham thrashed United 3-0, with Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela scoring each within a gap of six minutes in the second half.

The players' reaction came in the wake of van Gaal's decision to pull off Marcus Rashford at the half-time for apparently seeking the ball in wide areas, thus promoting Ashley Young to lead the line instead of playing natural forward Anthony Martial in the central role.

According to the Mirror, the players had reportedly blamed their manager for the defeat at White Hart Lane and believe that van Gaal would not survive at Old Trafford for long.

Meanwhile, van Gaal slammed center defence for the six-minute period that saw Tottenham score three goals against United.

Van Gaal's job has been under scrutiny this season, with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho had repeatedly been linked to take over at Old Trafford.

United's manager had also been linked with a return to Ajax as head of youth academy.

United are currently fifth in the points table and are behind fourth-place Manchester City by four points. They will now lock horns with Aston Villa on Saturday.
