Manchester United are set to become the first British club to earn more than 500 million pounds in a year despite their topsy-turvy show in the ongoing Premier League season.
According to United's second-quarterly financial results, the Old Trafford club are expected to accumulate 500-510 million pounds for the year. This involves a substantial increase in commercial, broadcasting and sponsorship revenues.
United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said that their strong commitment to investing in their squad, youth academy and the broader club were ultimately underpinned by their financial strength and the hard work and dedication of everyone at the club, the Guardian reported.
This development comes as a big relief for the embattled club as United are currently fifth in the league table and are six points off the Champions League spots.
