Nearly 200 languages are spoken in British city of Manchester.

The languages spoken in the city include Lingala, Igbo, and Yoruba, all from Africa.

Locals also speak Creole, commonly heard in the American south and the Caribbean, as well as Pashto, which originated in Iran, the Daily Star reports.

The number of languages spoken is boosted by refugees escaping from their war-torn homelands and those moving to Britain for a better life, the report said.

It was also revealed that half of all adults in Manchester can speak more than one language.
