Manchester United requires just one more victory to secure its qualification for the UEFA Champions League after their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in their Premier League match at Selhurst Park opened a seven-point lead over fifth-placed Liverpool.
Juan Mata scored the first goal in the 19th minute of the match before Jason Puncheon levelled for Palace with a deflected free-kick after the break. Marouane Fellaini then headed in Young's
cross in the 78th minute to secure all three points.
Jubilant after the victory, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said that his team took a very important step and noted that they need just one more point to qualify for the Champions League, the BBC reported.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew expressed dejection after the loss, saying that he thought that his team would go on to win or at least draw the match.
