The 3rd East Zone and 16th Sub-Junior National Sepak Takraw Championship 2013 was recently held in Manipur.

Around 375 players and officials from 15 states of the country participated in the four-day long event. The meet was organized by the All Manipur Sepak Takraw Association (AMSTA) under the aegis of Sepak Takraw Federation of India.

"We are looking forward because this is a sub-junior championship and this meet is very important to our country and especially the Sepak Takraw federation as through the championship we can find future players. We want to encourage more states to play Sepak Takraw as we need more players to represent us at the international level," said Yogender Singh Dahiya, Secretary General, Sepakakraw Federation of India.

The championship was organized with the aim of identifying and training players who can represent the country. The players can also improve their skills with the help of coaches from different states.

"For me it's very good to play here. After participating in this championship, I can do better in the future," said Rakesh Sharma, a player from Haryana.

Organizing such events will help players hone their skills, and give them an opportunity to showcase their talent.
