In an endeavor to increase awareness about the need for science education and motivate youth towards research and development, a three-day training workshop on 'Innovative Experiments in Chemistry' was recently held here.
More than 50 teachers and students from different schools participated in the training workshop at the Manipur Press club in Imphal.
The workshop was jointly organized by Manipur Science and Technology Council and Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
"The program mainly targets science teachers. If we give these experiments to the teachers,they will be able to teach more effectively in schools, college and universities," said Dr. Arup Kumar Misra, Assam Engineering College, Guwahati
"This is a good platform to make students take interest in the field of science, especially Chemistry," added, Dr. TH Surendranath Singh, Director, Manipur Science and Technology, Government of Manipur.
"This is a very interesting workshop for both teachers and students. Whatever we have learnt from this workshop we will go back and apply in the class room and then the students will be benefited," said Sapam Naran Singh, a teacher.
With India aiming to become a global player, the emphasis on research and development has increased significantly. The Northeast too can make an important contribution to India's success story.
