Manipur based Renu Handloom and Handicraft Co-operative Society is working towards the women empowerment from last two decades.
It was established in 1992 with a vision to achieve and undertake various activities for the welfare of the backward women and unemployed youth of the society.
Arambam Renu Devi, founder of the Renu Handloom and Handicrafts is recognized as an iron-willed lady entrepreneur who dedicated her whole life for the cause of a goodwill society and upliftment of women's condition.
The society which started its setup with 130 members in 1992 has today constructed two work sheds for handlooms and handicrafts separately with 36 embroidery machines and 26 handloom machines.
It aimed at the upliftment for the socio-economic development of the members and specially works with a concern for the women empowerment.

The society conducted various activities such as workshop, seminar, social awareness programs, social service etc. Of all the services rendered to the general public, the most important and the best service is taking care of the poor and the needy.
So far there were more than 20 orphan girls working in the work shed who have been given free training, accommodation and a livelihood.
Since inception, Renu has trained more than 5750 students hailing from all over the state as well as neighbouring state Nagaland.
Her products are sold in Kohima, Dimapur, Delhi, Agartala, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad and also exported to Italy.
