Manish Tewari lays foundation stone of roads under PMGSY

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari laid the foundation stones for the laying of two link roads in district Ludhiana under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY).

He laid the foundation stones of link roads between village Ayali to Jhammat and National Highway-95 to village Bains being built at an estimated cost of Rs. 82 lakh and Rs. 98.48 lakh respectively.

Addressing the public functions after laying the foundation stones, Tewari said that the Union Government has so far released Rs. 100 Crore for various link roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna.

He said that while a number of link roads in Ludhiana under PMGSY have been completed, work on others is going on.

 

Tewari said that the no development work is being executed by the State Government contrary to the fast blames being made. He said that the Union Government allocates about 1000 Crore rupees to the State of Punjab per annum for various programmes such as Rural Development, MGNREGA and SSA etc to be spent through the Zila Parishads.

He said that the State Government neither contributes its share in the Central schemes nor properly spends the Central funds given for the development of the State and welfare of the people.

Speaking on the occasion, former Punjab Minister S. Malkit Singh Dakha alleged that in spite of getting adequate funds from the Union Government, the Punjab Government is not spending these funds for the development of the rural areas.

Present on the occasion included Malkit Singh Birmi, Pawan Dewan, KK Bawa, Darshan Singh Birmi, Paramjit Singh Ghawaddi, Kartinder Pal Singhpura, Major Singh Mullanpuri.
