Congress leader Manish Tewari on Thursday dubbed the government's move to transfer Finance Secretary Arvind Mayaram within a fortnight as an exalted example of administrative tyranny, and said that it is a means to terrify officers.
"There cannot be a more exalted example of administrative tyranny, because if an officer is transferred three times in fifteen days, there cannot be a better example of how to terrify officers, how to create a spectre of instability, how to keep the system off balance," Tewari told ANI here.
"And, if this is the manner in which the BJP is going to run the government, then God help this country," he added.
Mayaram, who has been transferred yet again, will now join the Ministry of Minority Affairs, and not the Ministry of Tourism.
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has decided to cancel its previous order dated October 15 for shifting Mayaram to the Tourism Ministry from the Finance Ministry.
Mayaram will be replaced by Rajasthan cadre 1978-batch IAS officer Rajiv Mehrishi as the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.
