Australian actress Margot Robbie has been finalised for the flick based on the story of trapeze artist Lillian Leitzel and her tragic love affair with Alfredo Codona.

The film is an adaptation of the book 'Queen of The Air' released in 2013.

The 26-year-old actress will be cast as the protagonist in the role of Leitzel, as per the Hollywood Reporter.

The film will narrate the story of German-born Leitzel, who in the early 20th century, was one of the biggest stars in the world as she performed for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

A big chunk of the movie will revolve around her heart-rending and volatile love affair with fellow acrobat Alfredo Codona.

The pair married in 1928, but it was cut short just three years later when Leitzel plunged to her death during a show in Denmark when her rigging snapped.

While no details about the director have been revealed yet, the movie will be produced by Andrew Lazar.

The script is penned by Cat Vasko, who has already had a couple of screenplays on 'Queen of The Air'.
