The tunes of music broke barriers on Monday when United States' first all-women music band 'Flor De Toloche' performed 'Mariachi' in a 'fusion' with Punjabi music and Gidda at Khalsa College and Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA).
The performances reached climax when the students from Khalsa College for Women (JKW) blended Gidda and danced on 'Love legends' with US performers who reciprocated in trying hands for Gidda.
The majestic main hall of Khalsa College witnessed the 'Mariachi' at high pitch with Punjabi Music giving them 'perfect pitch' in background.
"It is a rare opportunity to perform along with student artists from Punjab'', said band group member Louisa Bastidas. The Punjabi orchestra, folk singing, Gidda and Sammi added to the flavor.
Chief guest at Khalsa College's Sur Sangam function Regional Passport Officer J.S Sodhi, special guest and Khalsa College Governing Council honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Principal Dr. Daljit Singh honoured the US group members.
They said such programs help promote inter-cultural understanding, necessary for the world turning into a global village.

Later the U.S artists presented a Mariachi-Punjabi Gidda fusion at Art gallery where Chhina advocated more such programs for closer ties between nations.
The US band included nine artists who with help of traditional instruments including violin, trumpet, guitarron (bass), vihuela (five string guitar) and guitar perform on stage created unique presentation.
KCW Principal Dr. Sukhbir Kaur Mahal said their Gidda performers were elated, and though it was difficult they presented one of its kind fusion presentation.
The program was part of inter- cultural exchange initiative of US Embassy in India for better understanding of different cultures.
"It was a special occasion for students and we are proud of being part of this program," said Dr. Daljit Singh.
"More such programs must be chalked out for strengthening ties," said Chhina.
Others present included Dr.PS Grover, KCGC Deputy Director DS Rataul and others.
