Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash is reportedly set to be appointed as the national squad's batting coach.

Ramprakash has been working on a part-time basis since Graham Gooch left the post following England's Ashes series whitewash in Australia. He will take up the role across all three formats of the game ahead of England's ODI tour of Sri Lanka this month, The BBC reported.

Ramprakash made 114 first-class centuries in a 25-year playing career.

However, he failed to transfer that to the international stage with only two of those tons coming in 52 Tests, in which he averaged 27.32.

Since his retirement from playing in 2012 Ramprakash has used his experience as a coach and has been working with county club Middlesex's batsmen, the report added.
