Marshal Fahim Military University siege ends: Afghan MoD

Afghanistan's Ministry of Defence spokesman Dawlat Waziri has said the attack on the Marshal Fahim Military University in Kabul has ended.

Tolo News quoted Waziri, as saying that two suicide bombers had detonated their explosives at the gate of the military academy, while two other attackers were killed in a clash with security forces. A fifth one has been arrested.

The death toll in the attack on the Marshal Fahim Military University in Kabul stands at five and 10 others were injured.

Afghan police chief spokesman Basir Mujahid confirmed the death toll.

Earlier, Waziri said one soldier had been killed after attackers stormed the military academy this morning.

 

Afghan presidential spokesman Shahhussain Murtazawi said the attackers were restricted to the first gate of the academy.

The attack comes days after an explosive-laden ambulance was detonated in a busy area close to Kabul's Chicken Street, killing 103 people, as confirmed by the Afghanistan Interior Ministry.
