Marvel has released images of its new comic character, a female Thor.
Marvel editor Wil Moss in a statement that since the words engraved on Thor's hammer say "whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor" the role of the male hero would now be taken by a woman, Fox News reported.
Writer Jason Aaron added that the character wasn't a temporary female substitute "She-Thor," "Lady Thor" or "Thorita," and would play the one and only Thor of the Marvel Universe from now.
The comic, which would be Marvel's 8th to feature a female in its leading role, would be available from October 2014.
