An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale shook northern Japan on Thursday.
There are no reports of any injuries or casualities due to the earthquake which struck off the coast of Hokkaido in Japan.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) has ruled out the possibility of Tsunami due to the earthquake.
