Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and BSP supremo Mayawati on Tuesday rubbished all charges being levelled against her in connection with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam, and alleged that the CBI was acting on the orders of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.

"The CBI called me last night to question me about the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) case. After four years of the NRHM case, what is the need to question me," said Mayawati.

"When the BJP was in power at the Centre 12 years ago, they had misused the CBI and imposed false allegations on me regarding the Taj corridor. Not just this, but all my income tax files for the past 10 years were reopened. And relentless efforts were made to demoralize me and my party members," she added.

She also clarified that she was given a clean chit in all the previous allegations.

"All agencies tried to drag me into the Taj Corridor case and the income tax case. But the high court and the supreme court gave me a clean chit," said Mayawati.

The CBI has filed 74 FIRs and 48 chargesheets in the scam while probing the alleged irregularities in the utilisation of the said amount allocated to Uttar Pradesh under this scheme between 2005 and 2011.
