Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader H.S. Phoolka on Tuesday criticised the Delhi Police for declaring his party colleague Jarnail Singh an absconder and questioned their biased behaviour against him
"Today we have filed the anticipatory bail in the High Court and we mentioned it this morning that this case should be taken up on urgent basis for hearing today only," Phoolka told ANI.
"The Court has already allowed it to be listed for today. Now, the bail application will be listed after lunch time and the copy of this application was served to the Delhi Police this morning," he added.
Criticising the Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi's statement, Phoolka said, "I don't see what is the occasion for the Commissioner of the Police to make the statement much after the copy of the bail application has been served upon him. And, they know that the bail application is listed in the High Court and is likely to come up for the hearing in the Court this afternoon."
"What is the occasion for the Police Commissioner around 12 o clock to make the statement that the bail application has been rejected. The bail application was rejected by the High Court three days ago and today it is pending in the High Court. I do not understand why they are so much biased against this particular person," he added.
Earlier in the day, Bassi told media here that he hoped Singh, who has been accused of assaulting an engineer of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, would surrender soon, and if he did not, he would be arrested.

Last month, MCD junior engineer Azhar Mustafa said he had gone to the Krishna Park area in the locality to demolish an illegal construction when local residents obstructed him from carrying out his duty. Mustafa alleged that AAP leader Jarnail Singh and others prevented the MCD team from carrying out the demolition and thrashed him.
Mustafa claimed that Jarnail Singh tore up the officially sanctioned demolition papers when they were shown to him, which forced him to file an FIR against the MLA at the Tilak Nagar police station.
Singh on the other hand has rubbished these claims, saying no notice was served to the owner of the property. He confirmed that he has filed a counter complaint against Mustafa.
