Australian fast bowling legend Glenn McGrath has said that the more a bowler gets a batsman out, the more it becomes psychological and constantly preys on the minds of both the bowler and the batsman.
According to the Guardian, McGrath believes that by this stage, there has been time for these little intricacies between the sides to develop as England and Australia teams have become quite familiar with each other, for which bowlers have had a chance to pressurise a few batsmen.
Stating that a batsman constantly worries about getting out by the same bowler again and again, McGrath said that a bowler uses the batsman's fears to his opportunity and to build up his confidence, adding that the batsman becomes a 'bunny' in his hands if he has got him out three or four times in the same series.
According to McGrath, the condition may start with some sort of technical flaw and may sometimes also happen without the batsman noticing, adding that the pressure is all the more increased when the commentators and the fans also start talking about the batsman's conditions.
McGrath further said that improving the mental part of the game is a key, adding that to be a good player, it is necessary to have the skills, attitude and the mental strength.
Stating that a bowler should always have an idea of how to get a batsman out, McGrath also said that he needs to have a plan always like knowing what type of ball to bowl before running in, or risk getting replaced by a better player soon.
Meanwhile, McGrath also said that it is concerning for Australia that two of their most reliable batsmen of the series, captain Michael Clarke and opener Chris Rogers, have been trapped by the same two bowlers, Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann respectively, five times each.
However, McGrath said that the batsmen need to justify to themselves and find out in which areas they are lacking as they have been getting bowled out by the same bowlers constantly, especially in the final Ashes Test at The Oval, because England is going to keep their momentum going.
