Northern Irish golf ace Rory McIlroy has said that golf is his girlfriend as he ruled out becoming involved in a relationship for the foreseeable future four months ago following his break-up with tennis' former world number one Caroline Wozniacki.
McIlroy split from Wozniacki in May, just days after invites for the couple's planned wedding were sent out and since then the golf ace has gone on to land back-to-back major titles.
McIlroy said that golf is his girlfriend at the minute and it's going to be that way for a while, The BBC reported.
Four days after announcing his break-up with the tennis ace, McIlroy won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. A golden summer then ensued for the Northern Irishman as his Open Championship and US PGA major triumphs came either side of victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Wozniacki's tennis form has also picked up since the break-up as she reached the final at the US Open where she lost to Serena Williams six weeks after winning her first title in eight months at the WTA Istanbul Cup.
McIlroy made clear that golf would remain his main focus for the immediate future, and said that he is at the stage of his career and life when he is putting golf first.
The world number one said that golf is the priority for him right now, adding that for the foreseeable future that is what it is going to be.
