MDI's International Summer University programme helps students enhance their management skills

MDI, one of the top B-Schools in India, has announced the commencement of its 'International Summer University 2016' scheduled from May 23rd to 10th of June, 2016 along with its 'Research Week' to be held from May 30, 2016 to June 03, 2016 in the MDI campus, Gurgaon.

The programme enables MDI to play host to students and faculty from partner institutions in India and overseas to enrich their knowledge of globally relevant learning practices amidst the burgeoning Indian economy. The Research Week this year has been introduced as a special initiative for doctoral students and faculty members.

MDI's International Summer University was launched in 2013 and has seen active participation from regions across India since the past three years. This year the programme secured 50 enrollments. Rooted in the business environment specific to India, the programme is a one-of-its-kind opportunity for tier two partnered universities and institutions students to utilise their summer holidays to earn grades while enjoying a trip to the culturally and economically vibrant Tier 1 city. It facilitates better job prospects that are internationally relevant as well as helps them to build an active network with peers from across the globe.

 

The underlying objective of the University is to allow a participating Indian student who is as bright and able as his global peers to get at par with them through access to high quality education, teachers, learning environment, course material, knowledge imparted, facilities and the diversity of his peer group, improving thereby, the prospects of employment and the scale of recognition of the degree earned.

Prof. M. P. Jaiswal, Dean- Research and Accreditation, MDI Gurgaon said: "The program aims to bring together professors from International Universities and students from smaller cities on one platform to learn the research methods and apply to contemporary business issues. This year, we have introduced a unique intellectual concept of research week wherein students and faculty from partnered institutions and universities will get a chance to understand the recent market developments."

The 'Research Week' comprises 'of Doctoral Colloquium' for Indian and international scholars, 'Case Methods Workshop' by Prof. Darren Meister, Richard Ivey Business School, Canada 'Research Methodology Workshop' by Prof. Balazs Revesz, Szeged University, Hungary, Europe and by Prof. Henrik B. Sorenson, Aarhus University, Denmark, Europe.

Doctoral Research Interaction Series have been arranged for interaction amongst the International Summer University's PG level students from Indian and global business schools with the Doctoral Fellows. The week was significant as it gave opportunity to fellow students from MDI and faculty from other B-schools across India to learn from International experts.

Research Week has seen participation from over 100+ faculty and doctoral scholars from Indian and overseas business schools and universities. Some of them include IIM Indore, GLA University, Mathura DMS, Pondicherry University, Punjabi University, Patiala, Lady Irwin College, New Delhi, Invertis University, Bareily, Vanasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan, Western Engineering and Ivey Business School, University of Szeged, Hungary, University of Aarhus, Denmark and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
