Senior advocate Abha Singh on Thursday said the media was not trying to defame Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and was only trying to bring out the facts.
"Fadnavis has his rights as a citizen to file a criminal defamation. The laws says that if it has hurt your reputation or it has lowered your esteem in front of your friends and relatives, but the question is whether it stands in court. The media was not trying to defame the chief minister; it was only trying to bring out facts because Air India officers had given it in their daily diary that the plane was delayed because of these issues. Is the CM going to take action against his officers?" Abha Singh told ANI here.
Singh added that the Civil Aviation Ministry should order an enquiry and bring the truth out.
Fadnavis, meanwhile, categorically denied the reports of delaying an Air India flight and said that he would initiate criminal defamation proceedings in the matter.
"Enough is enough. Once I m back to India I will initiate proceedings of criminal defamation," he posted on twitter.
