Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday said the demand placed today during the first day of the Parliament's Monsoon Session by his party leaders regarding the immediate resignation of tainted BJP Ministers is nothing new, and added that the media has been telecasting this demand for the past one month.
"The BJP does not want to pass any of the Bills and are raising allegations against us. Our demands were never hidden. The country's media had 24/7 had telecasted our demands related to resignation of their ministers for the past one month. Even the Mahila Congress was holding protests. Today we are placing those same demands inside the House," Azad told ANI here.
"We have kept our demands very clear. First the ministers should resign, then there will be discussions, later, passage of the Bills followed by investigations," he added.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the fourth time today as the Congress continued to insist on the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her alleged involvement in helping former IPL boss Lalit Modi.
The leaders belonging to Congress, Samajwadi Party and CPI (M) had earlier moved motions seeking discussion on the issue.
However, when the government offered a discussion, the opposition backtracked and said that discussion will follow only after the resignations by ministers.
