The Giving Tree at Sangaiprou organised a solo art exhibition on January 2, 2017, on the theme, "Angang nawa" (Early Childhood).

The exhibition displayed 23 paintings that capture the playful nature and innocence of children.

Laishram Meena Devi has been working as a freelance painter in Delhi. She did her BFA and MFA in painting in Delhi and has already participated in many group exhibitions in India and abroad as well. She is having her 4th solo show on January 2 and 3 as her first exhibition in Manipur.

Laishram Meena Devi, who hails from Sagolband Tera, has been residing at East of Kailash, and has been executing several art exhibitions inside the country and abroad.

She started her career in New Delhi and the city gave her the opportunity to see different cultures and lifestyles from diverse places in the world. She has been always inspired by local and international cultural and artistic events.

She mainly focuses on capturing the daily lives and activities of Indian women, especially the tribal women of Manipur.

The traditional touch can be seen in most of her works. She recently completed her research on the conditions and plight of women and children in the North-eastern region of India. She tried to portray this research into her paintings by capturing the beauty of the tribal women, the expression of their children's innocent faces and her experiences that made her the woman that she is today.

The bright colours like yellow, orange, cadmium red, bright blue, etc can be seen much in most of her paintings.
