A cat owner has put his black-and-white kitten with orange eyes, up for mayoral elections in eastern Mexico's Xalapa.
Morris' campaign slogan "Tired of Voting for Rats? Vote for a Cat" has attracted attention of tens of thousands of people on social media, Fox News reported.
35-year-old office worker Sergio Chamorro, who adopted the 10-month-old feline last year, said that his cat does nothing except sleeping almost all day, which fits the profile of a politician.
Chamorro and a group of friends put the cat as candidate after becoming disillusioned with the empty promises of politicians.
