When millions of people were waking up with sore heads across UK on New Year's day, one woman was out on a mission to help people beat their hangovers.

Donna Docherty, the self-styled "Hangover Angel", has set up a business delivering fast food and headache tablets to those feeling too queasy to venture out of the house after a big night out, Metro.co.uk reported.

The 40-year-old "morning after saint" expected January 1 to be her busiest day of the year, having set up the unique business six months ago.

She takes phone orders for fast food, paracetamol and hangover essentials from people who are too worse for wear to make it out themselves, and delivers it straight to their doors.

She said that she had been preparing for New Year's Day for weeks now - stockpiling the medication and bottles of fizzy drinks, and mapping which takeaways are open to collect food from.

Docherty charges a 5-pound delivery fee on top of the takeaway price to customers in Medway, Kent.
