Meeting to enhance awareness about Amarnath Yatra do's and don'ts held

Secretary (Information and Broadcasting) Bimal Julka held discussions today regarding the implementation of an effective campaign to enhance awareness among pilgrims about the Amarnath Yatra. The meeting was convened on the request of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra.

During the meeting, Julka discussed various issues to strategise appropriate communication tools for the help of the pilgrims to be aware of the procedures to be followed for seeking registration for the Yatra, the need for Compulsory Health Certificate for registration and the do's and don'ts to be followed during the pilgrimage and related health advisories for the pilgrims.

He said that a well planned campaign would soon be launched by the I and B Ministry through Doordarshan and All India Radio

 

The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to take place between June 28 and August 10 this year.

The sustained campaign would include broadcast/ telecast of public interest messages/ documentary films/ video spots/ audio spots educating the pilgrims about the challenges and medical problems faced by them during the Yatra.

Julka mentioned that the CEO of the Amarnathji Shrine Board would be consulted to finalize the content, form etc. to be designed in local languages of the states/ regions where from majority of yatris arrive.

The meeting was attended by R.K.Gupta, Principal Secretary to Governor (J and K) and CEO, Amarnathji Shrine Board and senior officers from the ministry, Doordarshan and AIR.
