Meghalaya: 2880000 litres of water pumped out as efforts continue to rescue trapped miners

Coal India Limited (CIL) till Wednesday has pumped out 2880000 litres of water as part of the ongoing operations to rescue the miners who have been trapped in a mine near East Jaintia Hills since December 13.

CIL will insert one more submersible pump in the shaft for pumping out water, which was previously done by Odisha's fire service. The Odisha fire service is helping to deliver the water from the temporary pitch to the stream using 5 pumps.

Indian Navy divers have also put down Under Water Remotely Operating Vehicle(UWROV) and work is in progress since January 8.

Multiple agencies are involved in the operation which is underway to rescue the miners trapped in a mine at Ksan near Lyteiñ River in East Jaintia Hills.
