In the search of "Ache Din" the Centre recently introduced many schemes and plans with the aim of skill development. The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna is one such scheme, launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Skill Development with the focus of encouraging millions of youth all across the country to develop their skills.
Following the Prime Minister's vision, Meghalaya is witnessing a tremendous growth of young women in the state walking towards the path of progress by involving themselves in skill training and entrepreneurship development programmes.
Vocational training and skill development being a crucial part of nation building; many non-profit organizations like Subham Charitable Association are providing an opportunity to Meghalayan women to enhance their skills with the help of training courses available without any fees and charges.
A trainer at Shubham Charitable Association said, "According to me, the scheme is really beneficial for the students and I am happy that student would be able to learn and progress further in career, I am teaching them as a professional worker. Whatever I am teaching them if they follow the same they would be able to work for future endeavors' and without depending on others, they would be able to earn their livelihood."
The courses initiated under skill development programme are creating more independent women and according to the data, 25 young women have already undergone training programmes in various fields, including technical courses like computers and professional courses like beauty, make up, art and embroidery.
"I have been coming here since March, till now I am trained in tailoring which includes cutting and sewing of frocks, kurtas, and all drafting work is going on. Our classes begin at 9:30 am in the morning and continue till 1:30 pm in the afternoon. We are provided with various tailoring material here and at times we carry our own material", told a student pursuing a course from Subham Charitable Association.
The NGO started its initiative in March and till date has enrolled 240 students. The examination process is also an integral part of the course as analyzing the growth of a student is important. In the end, after the completion of the course, the organization also rewards a certificate to its students.
The implementation of skill development scheme supported by other groups and organizations sets an inspiring example promoting the importance of efficient skills for the benefit of our youth.
