In a bid to give a boost to adventure tourism in Meghalaya, a motor sport event was recently organised in the state's Tura town, whcih attracted sports adventure lovers.
Organized under the initiative of Tura Motor Sports, the second edition of 'Bilgaro Challenge 2016', a motor sport event was held to promote motor sport and tourism, besides highlighting the beauty of the region.
Meghalaya is known as the "Abode of Clouds" and is endowed with incredible natural beauty. It has great tourism potential. Apart from its alluring scenic beauty, it also offers trekking, caving, motor and water sports for adventure lovers.
The event was organized in order to provide a platform and to boost up local amateur drivers.
National drivers and former national champion from Delhi Amanpreet Ahuluwalia also participated in the two-day event.
"This was my first time though such run was organized last year but I am taking part this year only. It is a great experience in northeast event. The organizers have done a wonderful job organizing such event. It is a great step indeed and I look forward to take part in the coming year edition as well," said Amanpreet Ahluwalia said.

This year's annual event included two exciting on track events-hill climb and sprint in SUV, above and below 1300 cc diesel for both locals and outsiders.
Participants from different parts of Northeast and also other parts of India gathered to showcase their skills in motor racing.
"Event was really great and it is my first time. Tura Motor Sports have organized it really well. Garo hill is amazing especially the people and their culture. We would love to come again. I will explore more of Tura," said Sajad Ahmed, a participant from Guwahati.
After a grueling competition in motor racing Amanpreet Ahuluwalia former National champion from Delhi bagged first position with total 50 points, Sandeep Sharma from Delhi with 40 points got the second position and third position was bagged by Ewelson Lyngdoh from Shillong with total points of 28 in SUV class.
In the diesel category Rocky Sangma from Tura with 43 points won the first prize. Sajad Ahmed. From Guwahati won the second prize with 40 points and the third position with 30 points was won by Thasin Ahmed from Guwahati as well.
In above 1300cc Sandeep Sharma with 50 points secured the first position whereas the second position was achieved by Thinku Marak with 30 points and the third position was won by Grahambell Sangma with 30 points.
In below 1300cc Ewelson Lyngdoh with 43 points secures the first position, Brandon Bazelely with 43 points got the second position and Chiborlang Wallang with 30 points got third position.
The winners were conferred with a citation, cash and a trophy.
