The coordination committee of All Assam Ex-United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), in Guwahati, dubbed president of peasant organisation Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Akhil Gogoi, as a Maoist and urged people to cast their vote wisely in upcoming general elections.

President of the co-ordination committee, Bhaskar Kalita, while addressing a news conference with other members, claimed that Gogoi had undergone training in a Maoist camp.

"We got to know in 2007 itself that he is a Maoist. He had taken training in a Maoist camp in Jharkhand and was running a Maoist organisation in Assam," Kalita said.

He also said that they do not want youth from northeastern Assam state to die in the name of armed revolution.

Moreover, Kalita appealed to the people of Assam to cast their vote wisely.

"We are 10,000 members in All Assam Ex-ULFA Co-ordination Committee and it is our appeal to people that they should think appropriately before casting their votes in the upcoming general elections," Kalita said.

The co-ordination committee is also fighting for rehabilitation of the surrendered ULFA cadres, whose numbers will be around 11,000 in the state.
