Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi, as part of the team's two-day 'peace tour' of Israel, placed a wish in Jerusalem's Western Wall.
The tour included a visit to Israel and consisted of a training clinic for young Palestinians in Hebron, along with meetings with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, the Independent reports.
According to the report, the team experienced difficulties in attempting to bridge the divide between opposing factions when Israel's cabinet announced a new plan, which will see preferential funding going to settlements in the West Bank that are considered illegal under international law.
