Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has vowed that his fans would see a different player at the World Cup than the one that under-performed this season with the Camp Nou side.

The Argentine returned to his native city of Rosario on arrival at Brazil before linking up with coach Alejandro Sabella and the rest of the squad at Ezeiza, the team's training camp.

According to Sport24, Messi vowed to train 'with maximum energy in order to give his best like always', adding that he is hoping to change his 'mentality' when he plays in the tournament at Brazil, beginning from June.

Messi further said that he believes the rest of the Barcelona team this season were suffering from a 'lack of energy'.

Argentina will play friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago on June 4 before taking on Slovenia three days later and their opening Group F match will be against Bosnia on June 16, which proceeds Iran on June 21 and finally Nigeria on June 25, the report added.
