Real Madrid player Mesut Ozil has thrown cold water on the hopes of Manchester United and Arsenal by insisting that he will be staying on with the Spanish giants.

According to Metro.co.uk, the German international had emerged as a possible target for United and Arsenal as the La Liga side seek to raise funds in light of the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale at the Bernabeu.

However, Ozil claimed that he has no interest in leaving Madrid in the current transfer window, which closes on Monday night, saying that he feels good and honoured to be at Madrid, adding that he will stay on at Madrid until his contract ends in 2016.

Ozil further said that he is flattered that other teams are interested in him but his decision is firm and he will not go from the club.

For Arsenal, it is a further blow as Ozil is the third Madrid player after Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria in expressing his desire to remain in the Spanish capital, while United will also be frustrated as their interest in Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas also failed to materialize in a move, the report added.
