The Delhi Metro will start operations at 4 a.m. on Saturday (February 7), to enable voters to reach their respective polling booths to exercise their franchise to elect 70 members to the Delhi Assembly.
A Delhi Metro release said that the trains will run at intervals of 30 minutes till 5.30 a.m. on all its lines. Thereafter, it said frequency would increase and trains will start running as per the normal schedule after 5.30 a.m.
The Election Commission has been carrying out an awareness campaign with people commuting on the Delhi Metro with an aim to encourage them to vote in the assembly polls.
Announcements in this regard are being made in the trains as well as on station premises.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is also scrolling voter awareness messages on display screens installed in train coaches.
A total of 673 candidates are in the fray for the 70-member Delhi Assembly. Delhi goes to polls on February 7, while the results will be declared on February 10.
