Mexico's Attorney General has reportedly claimed that all the 43 students, who disappeared in the southern state of Guerrero in September, have been killed by a criminal gang and their bodies have been burnt in a rubbish dump.

Jesus Murillo Karam said that his team had interviewed 99 people including, members of the gang, who he alleged killed the students, and had 39 confessions from police and criminal gang members. He said he could prove his statement, reported the BBC.

The explanation offered by him has been rejected by the relatives of the missing students who demand government action and concrete evidence to prove what happened.

Karam's statement comes a day after relatives of the students held a march in Mexico City.

The report said that this was the first time Karam declared all of the students dead.
