Australian captain Michael Clarke's relatives could have included a wealthy farmer who owned a village pub in Cheshire, according to data from family history website Ancestry.co.uk.

According to the Mirror, the Aussie star was born down under in Liverpool, New South Wales but his ancestors hail from a tiny village in the heart of Cheshire.

The report said that Clarke's great-great-great-great granddad Samuel Massey was born in Church Lawton, Cheshire, in 1820 and won ploughing contests with his prize horses.

One of his relatives, Raymond said that he had no idea that he was related to Michael Clarke and the captain was welcome to come round for a cup of tea any time, adding that he knew Australia were the underdogs but he wanted to support them now because he was related to the captain.
