Phil Mickelson has made his way into the list of golfing greats after winning the British Open, with the golfer now having five majors to his name, placing him alongside Seve Ballesteros, Peter Thomson and Byron Nelson.
According to The Guardian, there is now a legitimate debate to be had regarding Mickelson's status among the greatest players of all time, if such a discussion did not exist before.
The report said that the golfer has now claimed three of the four majors and is not finished yet and it would be a surprise if the 43-year-old did not complete a major clean sweep before retirement.
Meanwhile, Mickelson said that he was playing some of the best golf of his career and it was the best he had ever putted, along with playing the most memorable rounds of his career in the British Open.
The golfer's coach Butch Harmon was reduced to tears as the coach has now tutored four different major winners, which is a claim to fame in itself that must be recognized, the report added.
