Microsoft is reportedly working on an app for Windows, which seems to be a part of the software giant's cross-platform Xbox entertainment services.
While Microsoft is yet to announce the app, its launch will place Microsoft in league with its competitors that already offer similar services for tablets and other devices.
According to PC World, the app for Windows would lead Microsoft into the reading game to peruse e-books, magazines, and comics.
Microsoft is reported to have invested 300 million dollars in Barnes and Noble's plan, to develop its Nook business, in April 2009.
The company had then said that the partnership would accelerate e-reading innovation across a broad range of Windows devices.
