Microsoft renames Xbox Music to Groove

Microsoft has changed the name of Xbox Music, and now, it will be called Groove. The Xbox Video will now be known as Movies and TV

According to thenextweb.com, Microsoft says that the name change is to make the content in the app more identifiable for their broad customer base.

The changes will be introduced in Windows 10 PCs and in the coming months released to other devices.

Groove will feature an updated interface for better music management and an improved listening experience. Also, new menus and navigation controls are will be easier to use with a keyboard/mouse or touchscreen

The users can drag-and-drop files into playlists and hover over the taskbar icon for playback controls. Right clicking will bring up menu that allows the users to pin an album to their start menu.

 

Groove also has OneDrive integration to make the music available across devices, and will cost USD 9.99 per month or USD 99 per year. Already existing Xbox Music Pass subscribers will be automatically transferred to Groove. The iOS and Android apps will be released soon.

Array

Movies and TV is just focused on visual media. The users can import their personal video collection and Microsoft has added more file type support as well.

The new Movies and TV service also has direct integration with the Windows Store, where the users can buy or rent movies and TV shows in HD. Microsoft also claims that the users wi'll see some TV shows the day after they air as well as personalized recommendations.
