Tech-giant Microsoft reportedly revealed two shocking zero price decisions for Windows phone and tablets users.

Microsoft reportedly announced that Windows for devices with screen size less than 9? will cost nothing and also, a future version of Windows for the 'Internet of Things' will be priced at zero.

The new move reportedly means that Microsoft will not collect royalties from OEMs on Windows Phone handsets, or on small Windows 8 tablets.

According to Techcrunch, the zero price policy for Windows is a sea change for Microsoft and it is a bet that promoting OEM support and competing on end-user price will help people adapt to its platforms.

Although Microsoft has reportedly purchased Nokia's hardware assets, it is now focused on getting new OEM partners on board with Windows Phone, as these partners may help the tech-giant rive unit volume.

Microsoft has reportedly also opened up new price points, by not charging for small Windows tablets, for hardware running its code.

The cost of the software will not exist now as Microsoft will not charge the normal Windows OEM fee, the report added.
