People now believe that they don't become middle aged unless and until they hit the age of 53, according to researchers.

According to the survey of 2,000 women commissioned by Benenden Health, rising life expectancy and healthier lifestyles have meant that the average person no longer expects to hit middle age in their 40s, the Daily Express reported.

They also confessed about noticing less difference between age groups these days; social media and lives increasingly led online has contributed to blurring the divisions between young and old.

53 percent of UK citizens said that they do not even believe that middle age exists anymore.

Nearly 75 percent said that there was less of a divide between the age groups than in the past, with improved health care called the main reason.

A massive 84 percent believed that if they think of themselves as old, they will naturally start to feel old.
