Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Ram Madhav on Saturday said the Union Budget also benefited the middle-class, contrary to the grievances raised by the latter.
Addressing the grievance, Madhav told ANI, "Budget needs to be looked into in a comprehensive way. Our government has implemented seventh pay commission which has benefited the salaried class and especially the so-called middle class in a very big way so we are committed to the welfare of all sections of the society."
The Union Budget 2018 presented on February 1 was touted as a farmer-friendly budget that included various policies toward progress of farmers as well as the backward sections of the society.
In addition, the budget also came as a relief to the entrepreneurs as the government proposed to cut the corporate income tax rate to 25 percent for companies with a turnover of up to Rs. 250 crore.
However, the budget did not meet the expectations of the middle-class.
