Day after The Sun published images from a film showing Queen Elizabeth as a child, performing a Nazi salute, Britain's royal household has reportedly launched a probe to determine how the film was leaked.
The movie showed a young Princess Elizabeth with her arm raised, together with the Queen Mother and the Queen's uncle, Edward VIII, who later became king of England. The black and white home clip is believed to have been shot by the Queen's father, George VI, in the grounds of Balmoral, reported The Independent.
Inquiry is being made to discover if the film came from the Queen's personal archive, stored in the Round Tower at Windsor Castle, and whether it infringed the Royal Family's legal copyright.
A spokesman from the household said that it was 'disappointing' that a film, shot eight decades ago and apparently from Her Majesty's personal family archive, has been "obtained and exploited in this manner".
The 20-second film, revealed by The Sun, is believed to have been shot in 1933 or 1934, when Princess Elizabeth was seven.
