MIG-21 aircraft crashes in Budgam District (update)

A MIG-21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed on Monday morning in the Soibugh area of Budgam District.

No civilian casualties were reported.

The pilot ejected out of the aircraft and landed in an open field.

The Police was immediately informed by locals of the incident. As soon as the aircraft crashed, it burst into flames and fire fighters were seen dousing it.

An enquiry has been initiated into the incident to ascertain

the cause of the crash.

Several cases of such fighter planes crashing due to technical snags and outdated parts have raised concerns about the safety of pilots handling it.
